Oil companies and their employees donated over $13 million in the 2006 elections and they have already spent $37 million in lobbying expenditures this year.  The next step to ending our collective addiction to oil is reducing oil's influence over our representatives and demanding political independence from Big Oil.

Congress is currently considering a landmark Energy Bill - and Big Oil is heavily lobbying against it.  This is a critical moment.  Please take a moment and call your member of Congress today.  You can call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224.3121 or you can find their direct phone number hereDemand that any energy bill contain the following elements:

1.    A significant increase in fuel economy standards, at least 35 mpg by 2020.
2.    Incentives for renewable energy production.
3.    A repeal of some of the corporate welfare to the oil industry.

Separation of Oil & State is a campaign to get oil's influence out of government. Click here to find out how much your representatives are taking from the oil industry.

If you prefer to email your member of Congress, please use the form below.  You can send an email to all your representatives at once, or personalize it to one of them (e.g. I know you've taken $10,000 from the oil industry this year. Please stop it, I want you to represent my interests, not Big Oil's) and just select that representative on the next page.

Thanks for helping to Separate Oil & State!
